What is AdBlue® and why is it needed?
AdBlue® is a product used in vehicles with exhaust treatment systems based on SCR technology. Today, this technology is found in virtually all passenger cars and heavy vehicles with diesel engines. Despite its name, AdBlue® is a colourless liquid consisting of deionised water and 32.5% urea.
SCR technology
SCR stands for “selective catalytic reduction” and is a technology that treats exhaust gases from diesel engines. For the technology to work, AdBlue® must be injected into the exhaust system.
Reduces emissions
Using SCR reduces emissions of harmful nitrogen oxides by up to 90%.
